Syktyvkar Sawmill and Woodworking Plant, LLC

Syktyvkar Sawmill and Woodworking Plant («SLDK» LLC, trademark «SLDK / TIMAN TIMBER») is a Russian company producing lumber. 

It is among the top 3 leaders of the industry in the Komi Republic. 

The main production facility is located on the territory of the Komi Republic. One more sawmill enterprise of the company, a separate subdivision, the «Serebryansky LDK», works in the Luga district of Leningrad.   

 
The SLDK is one of the first enterprises of the Komi region’s timber industry complex of the USSR’s era. The sawmill started its work on August 10, 1926, and was oriented to the internal needs of the Republic and the whole country during their ongoing development. In the 1960-s, the plant was renamed, and it became the largest enterprise of the capital of the Komi ASSR and produced diverse products: from lumber to door and window construction, panel structures for building houses et al. 
Over 5000 people worked here.

At present, the company specializes in production of high quality sawn timber, which is mainly sold on international markets. 

Annual production volume is 180 thousand cubic meters of lumber and up to 12 thousand tons of wood fuel (pellets). 95% of production is sold for export - to the countries of Europe, Asia, Middle East.

The main directions of its applications are: logging, transportation of timber, production of sawn timber, custom parts made of timber and pellets, as well as the organization of rail and road transportation of raw materials and lumber, export-import operations. 

The company maintains its own operations in the regions of the Komi Republic, relying on having the conditions of its long-term lease. The company strives to develop its areas of activity, while improving the indicators of logging and transportation of raw materials by investing in quality equipment: Komatsu, Mersedes Benz, Valmet.

Being a member of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certificate holder, the SLDC has voluntarily assumed the responsibility for the legal origin of wooden raw materials for its production, as well as for compliance with the principles of the responsible forest management. The Company has also voluntarily allocated a part of the leased forest areas as protected - high conservation value forests (HCVF). These are forests that are of key importance, due to their high ecological, socio-economic, landscape or biodiversity conservation values. The HCVF areas are distributed throughout the leased areas and create an ecological framework for the whole area.

As a responsible forest resource utiliser, The SLBC LCC carries out reforestation works, does not use timber obtained as a result of illegal logging, treats natural resources on the leased territories with care and supports local communities, living on the leased areas. 
 
The large-scale modernization of the SLDK 's production, scheduled for 2024, implies a significant increase in the Company's capacity, equipment renewal and expansion of  production line.

As part of modernization, in 2019, the company successfully implemented a project to launch pellet production and continues to build up its development potential by investing in modern technologies and staff training.

The SLDC LLC is a major employer in the region. The company employs more than 850 people, more than 250 of them are the employees of its subdivision, the leader of the logging industry in the Ust-Kulomsky district of the Komi Republic.
